Abstract Knowledge and awareness on the importance of physical activities is important for the overall development of youth. It is important to educate youth on the importance of physical activity and healthy diet to improve their participation as an ideal citizen. The purpose of the survey was to study the interest of students and young people between the age of 18 to 30 years towards sports and healthy eating activities. A sample of about 2030 individuals was drawn from various regions of Dhār district. The survey consisted of 67.6% males and the rest were females. The study used a validated questionnaire with fifteen multiple-choice items covering the participants’ demographic data, their weight and height measurements, BMI was calculated accordingly, their interest towards healthy eating and various sports activity played by them, and the time spent by them on physical activities. The study validated the result using various statistical tests. About 18% had no idea about healthy eating habits and females were found to be less inclined towards sports and games.

Introduction
Overweight and obesity is a common factor seen among the youngster today. Those who are underweight are either lethargic or too weak to perform any task. Common barriers to healthy eating are convenience high calorie food, easy access to junk food, time constraint in preparation of healthy food, stress etc. Lack of education about healthy food behavior meal planning and lack of physical activity are other such barriers. Parental food behavior and friend’s social pressure were considered to have effect on individuals eating habits. Students normally do not take health into consideration and but normally while selecting food they take pleasure and taste into consideration. Sometimes parents are too busy to take care of their child’s eating habits. In today’s time Students need to be pushed more into sports and physical activity. Too much of social media indulgence have destroyed student’s indulgence towards sports and physical activity.
Aim of study Due to easy access to junk food, time constraint in preparation of healthy food, stress etc. Lack of education about healthy food behavior meal planning and lack of physical activity , the percentage of obesity is increasing in various districts of india. students are becoming lethargic day by day ,the purpose of the study is to bring awareness regarding sports and healthy dietary habbits among youngsters of dhar district.
Review of Literature

Inclination of youth towards sport would contribute to a significant positive attitude in their personality.  Hence it is important to educate youth towards benefits of sport (“Joseph, Jasmine & Ramachandran, and Anil. (2018)”).There is no proper facility available to play games and sports. The youngsters hesitate to participate in many sports activities moreover there is very less space available for sports and games. (“Sahito, Zafarullah & Ansari, Muhammad & Abbasi, Waheed. (2020)”).Obesity and overweightness rates have dramatically increased over the past few decades and rate of obesity has reached a shocking 29% in population aged 20-39 years. Physical inactivity and unhealthy dietary habits have adverse effect on young population.(“ Sogari G, Velez-Argumedo C(2018)”).  Through engaging in sport based life skill programs .young people can develop transferable skills. (“Charlotte Williams, Rich Neil, Brendan Cropley, Tim Woodman & Ross Roberts (2022)”

Methodology
A survey was conducted on a sample of 2030 young representative of the population of Dhār district.Age19-21 years. A random sampling method and a questionnaire was applied to about 2030 subjects out of which 67.6% were males and remaining were females. Participants were interviewed by telephone and selected according to the national quota method (gender, age, geographical density and region). Interviews were double-checked by follow-up calls to 20% of the interviewees, and if this procedure revealed any abnormal finding in even a single questionnaire, all interviews conducted by the interviewer concerned were reassessed. No abnormal finding was observed. Participants responded to questions on dietary intake, age ,level of study, daily eating habits, their idea about healthy diet, whom do they stay with, the hours spent on physical activity, will they take physical education as their main subject, which can of sports they like to play.. The response rate was 100%.
Result and Discussion

From the survey analysis the following data was obtained about 67.6% males responded while the rest 32.4% females responded. About 53.8% respondents were undergraduate students less than 19 year’s. 73% respondents were living along with their parents the rest were living in hostels, as paying guest etc. 82% respondent showed to have an idea about healthy eating habits.  Still about  80%   youngsters  were found to eating fast food at least  once a week.54% student’s responded that there is no sports facility available in their area and about  51% responded that learning sports is costly in India. BMI was found in the range of 12 to 39.5kg/meter square. About 67.3% students were found to be normal in terms of BMI. 6.5 % were found to be overweight. Remaining percentage of students was found to be underweight. Most of the female students was found to be statically less inclined towards physical activity. Cricket and badminton were found to be most played sport of the area.96.2% students were not taking any kind of professional coaching for any kind of sports.
